Castrén & Snellman to Compensate its Flight Emissions

Castrén & Snellman will start to compensate the carbon dioxide emissions from its employees’ air travel.

International assignments require that our lawyers travel around the world. Castrén & Snellman has decid-ed to reduce its carbon footprint by supporting Gold Standard certified environmental projects recommended by the WWF with a sum equalling the emissions from our air kilometres. However, favouring the use of remote technologies in client work whenever possible has the biggest impact on reducing the firm’s carbon footprint.

‘Our business and networks are international, which means that travelling is an essential part of our work. We feel that one good way to compensate our flight emissions is to support projects related to clean energy or reforestation. We hope that other companies will follow our lead and take measures to reduce our common carbon footprint’, said Managing Partner Sakari Lukinmaa.

Currently, very few Finnish companies compensate their flight emissions. Environmental responsibility is a strong part of Castrén & Snellman’s values.

Castrén & Snellman joined the WWF’s Green Office network in 2009 as the first law firm in the network. Our firm is also a member of the FIBS Corporate Responsibility Network and the Climate Leadership Council.
