The success stories of the future are written by the new generation – 40 scholarship recipients are now chosen

A better and fairer future has always been close to our heart at Castrén & Snellman. During our 135 years of history, we have provided advice in socially important, ground-breaking cases and created opportunities for growth for promising young influencers.

To celebrate our anniversary, we are handing out 40 Scholarships for the Future. Half of the scholarships are awarded to students in higher education and half to 9th graders and final-year students in upper secondary school. This is our way to support those who will build our future.

The Scholarships for the Future are our small encouragement to active and inspirational young people. To students who have shown particular social initiative and strived to make a difference in something close to their heart. To those who use their voice and give their all for a better future. To those who prioritise community over self and who not only dream but also take action.

Versatility of making a difference manifest in scholarship applications

20 Scholarships for the Future, each worth EUR 500, are awarded to students in higher education. Students had the opportunity to apply for these scholarships themselves or be referred for one, and the recipients were chosen by a scholarship panel. On the panel were Castrén & Snellman’s Managing Partner Sakari Lukinmaa and HR Director Outi Ruohola together with influencer Maria Karjalainen and Sitra’s Senior Advisor Jorma Jaalivaara. The panel processed all applications anonymously.

Today, we are delighted to announce that the following exceptional young people have received a Scholarship for the Future:

‘A warm thank you to all students who applied for the scholarships. They had clearly invested in the applications, which were brimming with the talent, spark and determination to change the world. Many had a strong track record of making a difference in something close to their heart as well as convincing plans and goals for the future. It’s wonderful that we get to award the people behind the success stories of the future with scholarships,’ says HR Director Outi Ruohola.

The scholarship applications were very impressive, and the panel considered various aspects in making its decisions. A common characteristic of the applicants was giving their all for a better future. Many have been active influencers since a young age. They have made a difference in student organisations and politics as well as in their hobbies and other areas of interest.

The secondary school scholarships were handed out directly to schools, and the schools chose the recipients at their discretion. The scholarships will be handed out in the schools’ end-of-year ceremonies.
