Iikka Väänänen
Counsel, Member of the Finnish Bar, LL.M.
About me
I specialise in environmental law and the energy industry, and I have advised clients in assignments relating to these areas since 2012.
I have participated in numerous transactions relating to energy production and industrial projects as well as in extensive assignments involving complex regulatory issues and authority proceedings. I have also supported the supervision of interests in legislative projects. I also have several years of experience of handling the wide variety of day-to-day legal issues faced by clients in the energy sector. In the field of environmental law, I am particularly well versed, for example, in issues relating to the goals and implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive.
In addition to my legal knowledge base, I provide clients added value through my versatile and extensive energy sector knowledge, which covers both renewables and traditional energy sources.
In addition to my Finnish law degree, I completed an LL.M. degree specialised in Energy and Natural Resources Law at Queen Mary University of London in 2015. Euromoney Legal Media Group ranked me as a Europe Rising Star in its listing for 2021.
